***STREET CLOSURE***

Dear Members,

As we are sure most of you are aware, there is a street closure from Yonge st. due to a collapsed bridge. However. There IS ACCESS from Bayview and John, since we are considered to be local traffic.

Sincerely,

Webmaster

Welcome New Web-site of Pomona Valley Tennis Club

Pomona Valley is unique in Thornhill for its affordable, accessible, and well-run facilities.

Our six lighted courts are conveniently located on John Street, just West of Bayview Ave. Friendly court monitors ensure that everyone has a fair chance to play, even during the busiest of times. Organized events and lessons for adult and junior players make it easy for everyone to get involved.

The annual fees are less than those at many other, less accessible, clubs. Come by and see for yourself: Pomona Valley is a great place for you and your family to spend the summer.

POMONA VALLEY TENNIS CLUB
2008 SPRING NEWSLETTER
905-881-5541

Welcome to the 2008 tennis season. Pomona Valley has new court surfaces, new nets and new poles, but the fees are remaining the same. There is plenty of court time available as there are no leagues or tournaments. Lots of time for friendly and fun tennis.

OPENING DAY will be on Saturday May 3th with a rain date of Sunday May 4th. Starting time will be 11.00 AM. Come out and:

APPLICATION FORMS are enclosed. Please fill them in and mail as soon as possible.  We will have your tags ready for you to pick up on Opening Day.
Good news: the fees are unchanged from last year. Note- many members chose to not mail in the application form and opt instead to bring them to the Club on opening day – it is MUCH easier for the executive if you mail it in early so that your tags are ready for you to pick up on opening day.

IVAN RUBENCHIK WILL RETURN AS OUR TEACHING PROFESSIONAL. Ivan has been a Tennis Instructor for many years. During the winter he is a full time tennis instructor at the Mayfair Tennis Club. Pomona Valley is very fortunate to have someone of Ivan's caliber to teach group lessons and be available for private lessons as well. Ivan will be available on Opening Day, from 11am to 1pm, to meet you and answer your questions regarding his program. Reza Jovaini will be Ivan’s assistant and will be at the club most of the time.

ROUND ROBINS have always been a very important function to many of our members.  We have an Executive member dedicated to Round Robins. This person will oversee all facets of the Round Robins including training the Monitors to run them. The Round Robin program is as follows:

THE MONITOR RULES! Our Monitor’s job is to perform their job as per the club rules and direction from the Executive. Most of our members treat our Monitors with respect and do not challenge their instructions. If you have an issue please take it up with an Executive member.

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE- the Pomona Valley Tennis Club provides low cost tennis at a beautiful location.  The costs are kept to a minimum because members volunteer their time to run the club.

Currently the Executive consists of six volunteers.  Some of the current Executive has volunteered for several years and have announced that this will be their last year. We will be looking for new volunteers to take their place.

The success of Pomona is dependent upon quality volunteers coming forward. Please seriously consider your participation. The Executive will be asking for volunteers during the year. Pomona Valley Tennis Club is your club. Please treat it with respect and try to leave it cleaner than you found it!! Thank you.

Have a great season.
